A conviction means determination of guilt that is the result of a plea, including nolo contendere, or a trial. Please do not disclose summary offenses.
UPMC conducts a background check on each final candidate for employment. These background checks include a criminal record check. If the results of the background check conflict with your answers on the application, and you are not able to provide a compelling explanation (in the sole judgment of UPMC) for the discrepancy, the offer of employment will be withdrawn. A conviction of a crime will not necessarily result in the denial of employment.
